Belize - Belize (pronounced /bəˈliːz/) is a country in Central America and is the only Central American country where English is an official language. Once known as the colonial territory the British Honduras, the Belizean territory was also once part of the Mayan and Spanish empires. It was a British colony and for more than a century until 1973, until granted independence in 1981.
